Bahco PX Series Sizing Guide

Use the following steps to build the Bahco PX series hand pruner that is perfect for you. Each step will add a number or letter to form the complete code. Once you have the code, you can order the perfect pruner. You can print this page out and then fill in the code in the column to the right as you measure to make ordering easy.

The codes are easy to understand. Here is an example code: PXR-M1.
a. The PX is standard for all PX series pruners.
b. The R designates this pruner as having a rotating handle.
c. The M is the size of the handle. M for medium, in this case.
d. The number one is the size of the cutting head. This is the smallest size, for lighter work.

All codes begin with PX. If you would like a rotating handle, add R to the code.

Handle Size: Palm side down, measure the width of your hand across the widest part. Be sure to make measurements on the hand that you will hold the pruner with! Once you have made the measurement, match the width the corresponding color below:

less than 3¼" : YELLOW
3¼" to 4" : GREEN
more than 4": RED

Palm side up, measure the distance from the tip of your middle finger to the base of your hand at the wrist fold line. Again, match the corresponding measurement to the color below:

6½" to 8": GREEN
more than 8": RED

Match the colors from & to select the size of handle that will best fit your hand. Smaller handles are best for minimizing stress on the hand. Larger handles provide better leverage for making cuts.

Number 1 Cutting Head:

Ideal for end of season, clearing of vines from training wires and green pruning. Highly recommended for users who are already suffering from aches adn pains in their hands and arms.
Capacity: 5/8"

Number 2 Cutting Head:

Ideal for most popular training methods in vineyards up to 10 years of age. Recommended for users who do not feel any pain yet, but who want to avoid it. Capacity: 3/4"

Number 3 Cutting Head:

Ideal for most popular training methods in vineyards over 10 years old. Not recommended for users who already suffer from apins in teh ahdn or arm. It si then advisable to use a lopper or pruning saw when cutting large diameters. Capacity: 1-1/4"
